We require a 25 % deposit to book a rental, with the balance being paid on arrival.
The deposit is refundable if you cancel more than one month before your check-in date. The deposit will not be refunded for any cancellations made within less than one month. Due to the remoteness of Haida Gwaii, we rely on our bookings rather than walk-in traffic; therefore, the one month gives us time to find another booking.
We, of course, allow for ferry cancellations that are beyond the travellers’ control and family or medical emergencies.
-
The minimum night stay is four consecutive nights. We do make exceptions to this depending on our own availability, so do not hesitate to ask what are availability is like for a shorter than four-day stay.
-
In the Absence of Time House, the one bed and three beds are pet friendly; all other properties, unfortunately, are not pet friendly due to the flooring.
There is a $15/ night charge per pet and a maximum of two pets in the pet-friendly locations (Absence of Time House - one & three bed)
-
By air: There are two airports on Haida Gwaii; Sandspit (south of the island) and Masset (north). Air Canada flies to Sandspit from Vancouver and Pacific Coastal from Vancouver to Masset. The frequency depends on the time of year.

Who We Are
Hi, I'm Mike,
I've been on Haida Gwaii since 1979, and over the years have truly fallen in love with this place. I'm sure you will too.
I live in Daajing Giids with my dog Fane. The property overlooks the inlet and hosts rental properties as well as a steady stream of friends and tenants who regularly pass through. Don't worry; there's also plenty of opportunity for solitude. You'll discover this corner lot is an eclectic collection of treasures, stories and adventure that will take you as you are and provide what you are seeking. Be its beautiful views, casual conversation or private lodgings. Chances of running into a local as you head for your car or into town are as likely as running into a fellow traveller. Either way, you will likely find openness and a desire to share.
I've been on Haida Gwaii for a long time. I owned and operated a tackle shop for 40 years, though these days, you're more likely to find me on my boat, in the kitchen or tending to the property. I've been fortunate enough to travel extensively over the course of my life and hope to continue to do so in the future. I've also got a thing for photography, inspired by the ever-changing canvas just beyond my deck.
If you have questions, care for a cup of tea or a game of crib, my door is always open.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
